About Us

is a launchpad into the avicultural world on the web. It came into existance from an interest in aviculture dating back to when I was growing up. Our intention is to highlight all the best avicultural websites on the net by creating links to other sites you may not know about. We are not affiliated with any clubs or any business which means links are created objectively based on merit.

We hope to have the most complete listing of bird sales around Australia, my service comes free to those who want to advertise a bird sale. Commercial businesses and private breeders can also advertise on my Buy-Swap-Sell classified section free of charge. The only charge is for advertising displayed on my web pages and links to your own commercial website from my link page. Links to non profit avicultural societies from the actual bird sale page is free. The products which I sell and any advertising revenue received, go towards funding the maintenance of these web pages, paying the ISP bills , domain name registrations and renting the server space to host these web pages.

Website Owner:

Hi, my name is Ed Fong. My brother and I started keeping birds in 1976 when I was 14 years old. We built our own aviaries out of scrap wood and corrugated tin roofing that we salvaged from the piles of junk left out during the twice yearly council cleanups . Back in those days we bred Budgies, Canaries, Zebra and Bengalese finches as well as King Quails (As you might have gathered, we didn't have much of a budget).

I stopped keeping birds in 1985 due to some minor disruptions in my life, like finishing university, starting work, getting married, buying a house, and having kids. I am currently working as a systems analyst in the finance sector. The bird bug bit in October 2004, it started off with one aviary, then another popped up, after 2 years, 5 aviaries had sprung up from nowhere (several are divided into multiple bays), I won't even mention the smaller single cages set up in the garage. I now have around 50 Yellow / Black / Red Headed / White Breasted / Yellowbacked Gouldians, 2 pairs of Green Cheeked Conures, 4 pairs of White Fronted Blue Scarlets, 8 pairs R/F Kakarikis and 4 pairs of Tri Colour Parrot Finches, 8 pairs of Norwich canaries, a pond full of Lion-head / Ranchu goldfish, a tank full of various African Cichlids, a Maltese Terrier (called Muffin) and a Shih Tzu (called Bella) . In the middle of May, 2008 , we got our first reptiles, a pair of yellow phase Bearded Dragons, my backyard is fast resembling Taronga Park Zoo. I'm not sure how much further I can push my luck with the 'Mrs', but one day when they become more common and the price becomes affordable I'd like to add a couple of albino blue tongues to the menagerie. Hairless mice and hooded rats followed shortly. The latest additions in November 2009  are Stimsoni and childreni pythons.

In 2003, armed with a keen interest in the world wide web, I set up the user id scrapcollecta on eBay so that my daughters could sell their scrapbooking products from home and earn a bit of pocket money. As time passed, they moved into selling books. , launched July 8th, 2007, is the natural progression from this eBay venture, further consolidating my pastime in computing and aviculture. , a sister site, was launched on July 28th, 2008 to promote the hobby of Herpetoculture.

Right now, my goals are to breed the perfect pied Kakariki and to make this website the first place people go to, to find out about bird sales. So please assist and help promote your hobby by keeping me up to date with bird sales anywhere around Australia. Even if there is a rumour of something happening, just feed me some tid bits and I'll investigate it for you.
